Two great late westerns from 1969. One is widely known and appreciated, the other is probably one of the greatest little-known movies ever. Despite a small yet stellar cast centring around Gregory Peck and Eva Marie Saint, and in spite of presenting a remarkable thrill usually only seen in Hitchcock's films, nobody seems to know The Stalking Moon. It really is a shame that such a great western/thriller hasn't had a bigger audience thus far.

Gregory Peck's penchant for stolid, unemotional characters is a drawback to the tension in The Stalking Moon, and Eva Marie Saint seems out of place. Butch Cassidy deserves all of its accolades: just a fun movie to watch.
